So you're thinking of getting microneedling?

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

Let's start with the basics.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure where a licensed medical esthetician numbs the area and then applies a handheld device that pricks the skin with tiny sterilized pins. These tiny wounds stimulate your cells to produce more collagen, and elastin which heals your skin healthier, brighter, younger, and firmer skin.

What does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling treats a wide range of skin complaints.

  • Acne Scars

  • Acne

  • Dark Spots

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Large Pores

  • Sagging Skin

  • Stretch Marks

  • Sun Damage

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles

How Many Sessions do I Need?

If you need to take care of a specific skin complaint such as acne scars, you will need to have series of 3 treatments 6 weeks apart. Depending on the severity of the skin concern and desired outcome we will determine how many treatments you will need. Our medical esthetician will be able to guide you through that when they see how efficiently your skin heals.

However, if you are looking for maintenance, bi-yearly treatments will keep your skin youthful and absolutely glowing!

What Results can I expect?

Microneedling gives you major results if you receive several treatments consecutively. Below are before and after pictures. If you are looking for major results that don’t break the bank this is perfect for you.

Due to the effects happening gradually after several treatments and over the course of months as your skin heals you will see results throughout several months and will see best results after 3-5 treatments.

Aftercare of Microneedling

Due to the tiny pricks in the skin, there are some considerations that are needed to be taken into account.

Avoid wearing makeup for 24hours after your treatment.

Avoid strenuous exercise that causes you to sweat for 48 hours.

Avoid jacuzzis, saunas, steam baths, and public swimming pools for 48 hours.

In the first few days only wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. You do not want to rub or scratch your skin as that will cause horizontal tears and damage, that will cause it to heal in a more damaging way.

Keep your skin moisturised and allow the old skin to flake off naturally. Still do not rub or scratch the skin.

You will be able to resume your regular skincare when the redness and inflammation have diminished. It is best to consult your esthetician for an accurate assessment.

If you are interested in a consultation or would like to book a microneedling treatment you can call or email and we will book you an appointment with

our medical esthetician.
